The underlying idea of Jhatka was to introduce humane way of slaughter, Means to kill the animal with minimum torture to it.
Jhatka meat is meat from animals that are killed by a single strike of a weapon to the head. This method of slaughtering the animal is called jhatka in Hindi and it is considered one of the most humane methods of slaughtering an animal. The reason for this is that death comes instantaneously, without any pain or suffering.
Jhatka has no religious process that it follows and therefore, can be consumed by everyone regardless of religious affiliations.
The word “jhatka” originated from Sanskrit झटिति (jhatiti, “immediately, at once”). . It has been used in India for centuries and it is now gaining popularity in other parts of the world.
It has been scientifically proven that jhatka meet is healthier than other types of meat because it contains less saturated fats, more iron and protein, as well as fewer calories.
All product manufacturers should agree that “Food shouldn’t or rather can’t have a religion”. Once they have clarity at thought level than on a priority basis, they need to stop the practice of putting a religious label on packaged items.
